George Dilnot (1883-1951) was a British journalist and novelist, author of crime fiction. For a time he was a professional policeman, then a journalist, before starting to write in the mid-1910s, when he wrote two detective novels with Frank Froest, a former work colleague and Scotland Yard detective. He went on to publish nearly twenty titles on his own, in which several recurring characters appeared: Inspector Strickland, Val Emery, Horace Augustus Elver, Jim Strang.
