The SCM Press A-Z of Origen" provides students with ready access to and sure guidance through the life of Origen, the range of his theological explorations, his influences, his works and the controversies associated with him in life and in death. This A-Z provides the student of patristics, with a reference to Origen but also includes an overview of Origen's own writings, a list of English translations, a list of critical editions in Latin and Greek, and a biography of his life - all of which make it a sound starting place for the student wishing to delve deeper into this period of history. About the Author John Anthony McGuckin is a Profesor of Early Church History at Union Theological Seminary New York and an adjunct professor of religion at Columbia University. A priest of the Orthodox Church, he was formerly Reader in Patristics and Byzantine Theology at the University of Leeds.
