What are the characteristics of science magazines for children and, in particular, the Ciência Hoje das Crianças Brazilian magazine? Do science teachers use the vehicle as support material in class? This book investigates the characteristics of the first Brazilian magazine on dissemination of science to children as well as reveals its uses in public schools in Curitiba, city located in southern Brazil. In order to base the empirical survey, the work also presents a theoretical reflection on the interactions between the fields of Communication, Science and Education. To investigate the magazine uses at school field, questionnaires were applied in school libraries and teachers and experts were interviewed. Do schools take advantage of the educational potential of the magazine? As a result of the author's master's research, this book discusses these issues immersed in Brazilian school setting. From this reflection on science communication for children, it is believed that science communication through the printed magazine media would improve the learning of science in formal education.
