"Saying Goodbye is deeply informed, thanks to Jim's unique panoply of firsthand observations within the healthcare arena from his many years on the front lines, whether as a hospital executive making leadership decisions, or a chaplain praying at the bedside of a patient. It is thoroughly biblical, thanks to its tapestry of timeless scriptural truth and wisdom that point to the One who is faithful to strengthen us far beyond what any of us could muster on our own, particularly as we face the crucibles of health challenges for ourselves and our families. It is richly applicable, thanks to the nuggets of wisdom Jim has placed within easy reach throughout these pages--spiritual markers, thought-provoking questions, and points to ponder that any reader can apply to the difficult situations we all must inevitably face in this human experience. But most of all, Saying Goodbye is a book that will bless you because it is so profoundly personal. On every page, Jim's heart for his subject shines through, informed by the life events he has experienced--many of them bright and joyful, but many others marked by the shadows of tribulation--and, more important, by the way he has chosen to hold those events up to the light of his Heavenly Father's eternal purposes and plans." - Phil Newman, Editor of Saying Goodbye
