Join popular quilter and fabric designer, Carolyn Friedlander, on an exploration of how different substrates combined with the design concepts of line, contrast, scale, emphasis, color, volume and texture can impact the finished quilt. Carolyn introduces readers to her unique approach to quilt making including her slow-sewing techniques: big-stitch embroidery, needle-turn applique, wholecloth quilting and traditional piecing methods. Eight quilts, each with a multitude of colorway options, illustrate how every design decision impacts the direction of a quilt. Projects range from small coasters and table runners to full-size quilts, each encouraging readers to play with design possibilities discussed to create personalized quilts of their own.
