Gayle was born and brought up in New Zealand, she married in 1966 and had three children. The family moved to Australia in 1979. She now has six grown grandchildren. All her life she has celebrated a hot Christmas summer in Australia yet Christmas is often associated with cold and snow. For many years she wanted to write a book on Christmas in the sun. So that is how Santa Down Under came about.
