Roberto de Mattei is a historian who has taught at the University of Rome, "La Sapienza," the University of Cassino, and the European University of Rome. From 2003 to 2011, he served two terms as vice president of the National Research Council of Italy. He is the president of the Lepanto Foundation and the director of the periodical Radici Cristiane and of the information agency Corrispondenza Romana. He has collaborated with numerous newspapers and periodicals, such as L'Osservatore Romano, Libero, Il Giornale d'Italia, Il Tempo, Il Foglio, and is the author of more than thirty books translated into multiple languages, among which are The Second Vatican Council: A History Never Written, which received the Acqui Storia Prize in 2011; The Rally of Leo XIII: The Failure of a Pastoral Project; Criticism of Revolution in the Thought of Augusto Del Noce; Pius V: The History of a Holy Pope; Turkey in Europe: Beneficial or Catastrophe?; and
