During the last years of the 20th century, issues of prejudice and racism have been at the centre of the attention of the Western and non-Western mind. With my book I wanted to bring a novelty in the field by investigating the particulars of prejudiced discourse regarding the Rroma minority. My efforts go into the direction of constructing a portrait of Romanian stereotyping on Rroma by intermingling two parts in the paper: an imagology and the discourse analysis one. Thus, the main focus will fall on how particular expressions, rhetorical tricks, characterization of Rroma are used to allocate disapproval on the Rroma minority and, more than that, to segregate them as human beings and fellow citizens. As it will be seen, the talk on Rroma employs a style, which, at the same time, sometimes denies, but also reveals or masks extreme prejudice. The title Rumänische Zigeuner Bilder was chosen in order to stimulate the interest of the reader and hints at detecting and disclosing the causes of Romanians' inappropriate and biased representations of the Rroma.
