In the 2000/01 season to develop him as a player CD Aves let him on loan to small club Serzedelo in which it is a close club to his local place were he was born and grew up. He has enjoyed highs and lows at the club like when the club won promotion to the Portuguese Liga in 2006 but the club was relegated the following season back to the Liga de Honra were the club has been there ever since. In April of 2007, Rui Faria suffered a season-ending injury.
