Written by author and jewellery expert Maria Cappelletti, Rolex Philosophy follows the evolutionary path of the innovative techniques and extraordinary designs that made Rolex the powerhouse it is today.
After graduating in 1989 from the IULM University of Milan, Mara Cappelletti attended the ‘History of Jewelry’ course and the ‘Art of Islamic countries, India, China, Korea and Japan’ short course at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in 2005. She is founder and president of Associazione Culturale Stile e Storia, working in art, fashion and jewelry. From 2011-2012, Cappelletti was the curator and author, together with Osvaldo Patrizzi, of The Masters of Time (24 Ore Cultura): a collection of 25 monographs dedicated to the world’s finest watchmakers and founders of the greatest Maisons. In January 2020, Cappelletti was the main curator of the exhibition Stile Milano (Milano Style). She had previously curated 2015 exhibition Jewels Of Taste as part of the Expo In Citta, supported by the University of Milano, Associazione Orafa Lombarda, and The World Jewellery Confederation CIBJO.

Es gibt wohl kaum eine Uhren-Marke die so polarisiert wie die Firma Rolex. In diesem Huch dürfen wir ihre Firmenphilosophie erlesen und durch brillante Fotografien auch optisch bestaunen. Dieser Bildband zeigt wunderbare Detailaufnahmen der wohl bekanntesten Modelle aber auch den wohl kleinsten Teilen aus dem Inneren der Uhren selbst.
Die Firma hatte wie andere Firmen auch einen besonderen Start in der Branche. Alles musste gut überlegt sein, das Alleinstellungsmerkmal musste gesucht und gefunden werden. Der Weg dorthin ist nicht immer einfach gewesen aber der Kampf hat sich gelohnt! Schnell ist in diesem Buch klar, die Perfektion der Firma verdankt sie seinen klugen und fingerfertigen Köpfen. Die Präzession der Uhren brauchte Zeit aber diese Präzession wurde durch wahre Meister der Uhrmacherszene umgesetzt. Jedes Modell ist nicht nur Perfektion, sie ist auch zeitlos und ja, mittlerweile auch eine Wertanlage die wohl eher nach oben tendiert als nach unten. Die Präzession der Uhren wurde nicht nur mehrfach ausgezeichnet, sie spiegelt sich auch in ihrer Langlebigkeit wieder. Unter den Uhren-Kennern ist klar: eine Rolex ist kein Statussymbol sondern pure Uhrmacherkunst mit bester Technik!
Die Bilder in diesem Buch geben wunderbare Einblicke in die Firmengeschichte aber auch auf die wohl bekanntesten Modelle selbst. Einige Makroaufnahmen sind bestens eingepflegt genau wie die Texte dazu, die sich komplett durch das Buch ziehen. Alles ist harmonisch, äußerst interessant und beinhaltet eine Menge Wissen über eine besondere Firma. Ein wahrlich beeindruckendes Buch welches 5 Sterne verdient!
