The world has seen tremendous growth in Non-Governmental Organizational activities during the last few decades. Irrespective of being in the industry for so long and having access to billions and billions of dollars, some argue that NGOs still have not shown satisfactory progress and therefore question the effectiveness of NGOs in human development. The book tries to understand the role of NGOs in improving the quality of life of its beneficiaries and at the same time possible gaps among NGO and beneficiary interpretation of barriers for a quality life. The book describes a study which was conducted in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka, employing both quantitative and qualitative methods for a better understanding of the issues. The book concludes that NGOs should further expand their activities in relation to increasing economic access, increasing community involvement, and improving personal development. While working in other areas requires extreme caution.
