The development of a retinal image analysis system is a demanding research topic for early detection, progression analysis and diagnosis of eye diseases. The objective of the research work is to diagnose a retinal disease that leads to major blindness using fundus images. The main objectives of a retinal image analysis system are ¿ To analyze retinal images and to identify abnormalities in them. ¿ To locate and segment structural indicators of eye diseases. ¿ To develop an automated screening system to diagnose eye diseases earlier. ¿ To develop novel segmentation and classification methods that overcome the inefficiencies of other existing techniques in detecting abnormalities.
