Autorenporträt
Howard Harrison spent more than 40 years as an award-winning corporate publications editor and speechwriter before pulling back in recent years to focus on book writing. After earning a journalism degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978, Harrison joined Walgreen Company as a public relations manager in charge of grand opening publicity and later became editor of the company's global magazine, "Walgreen World." In 1980, Harrison joined the Hospital Financial Management Association as writer/editor for its 84-page monthly magazine. He then was hired by the accounting firm Alexander Grant & Company to lead communications for the newly formed Grant Thornton International, and later worked as an editor-at-large for the American Bar Association Press before joining Baxter International in 1983. As Director of Internal Communication at Baxter, Harrison created an employee magazine that won a Gold Quill Award of Excellence from the International Association of Business Communicators in 1991. He later served as Director or Executive Communication for Baxter. After leaving Baxter, Harrison formed his own company, Harrison Editorial Inc., providing writing and editorial services to a range of organizations. Harrison published his first book, "NOW They Make it Legal: Reflections of an Aging Baby Boomer," in 2015. In 2016, it was named a Reviewer's Choice by the Midwest Book Review. His second book, "The Great Divide: Story of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Race," was released in early 2017. Kirkus Reviews called it "lucid, well-paced and evocative ... an absorbing read." Harrison published "Corporate Crap: Lessons Learned from 40 Years in Corporate America," in 2018. The book has received wide acclaim. "Harrison writes with complete candor and devilish wit." (Foreword Reviews) "Hilarious! Great read! Quick, easy and loads of laughs!" (NetGalley Review) "A breath of fresh air." (Kirkus Reviews) "From beginning to end, my chuckling never ceased." (Paul Falk Book Reviews) Harrison's latest book is "Retail Crap: Tales from the Front," scheduled for release in late 2021.
