World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized the 'availability of food to all' as the basic human right, so the food security is an issue of prime concern for all the nations of the world today. An easy option to control the pests, in order to increase crop productivity is pesticide. But, the application of insecticides has led to serious environmental contamination resulting in great loss of crop productivity and also many beneficial organisms including certain microorganisms. They produce hazardous effects. On the other hand increased availability of UV-B is imposing threat to the survival of biotic communities. Enhanced UV-B radiation causes damage to biological system. Certain reports are available, regarding the effect of UV-B and pesticide alone on plants, but data related to there interactive effect are still scarce. So the purpose of present study is to investigate the synergistic effect of UV-B and pesticide on plants.
