The present investigation is an attempt to study the resource efficiency and investment appraisal of small ruminants in Rajouri district of J&K state, India with objective to work out the resource use efficiency of different inputs associated with rearing of small ruminants, to examine cost, yield/return, income realization and employment generation through small ruminants and to assess the economic viability of small ruminants. Six blocks were selected from Rajouri district and from each blocks three villages were selected purposively. From each village 10 rearers of small ruminants were selected randomly to constitute the total sample size of 180 rearers. The data collected were subjected to analysis for examine the objective of the investigation viz. resource use efficiency, cost and return and economic viability.
