Reservoir characterization of high paraffinic oil content reservoir covers the study of the characterization, simulation and optimization of oil recovery from a compartmentalised oilfield in China. The study successfully charts a pathway for field development planning of a mature asset with detailed reservoir characterization based on available data by integrating core and log data to estimate reservoir properties with regards to delineation of hydraulic flow unit. Empirical and semi-empirical waterflood performance curves estimation of recoverable reserves were used as bounds for the reservoir simulation model as well as characterise performance of waxy oil reservoirs as distinct from others. Furthermore, the optimal injection temperature was investigated for the nature of the oil.
