The present study aimed at examining the narratives made in Iranian Reformistand Conservative newspapers about Saudi Arabia in the context of the recent Iran-Saudi tensions. Drawing on Baker¿s concept of selective appropriation and within the framework of narrative theory, the study proceeded to investigate the selected and deselected themes of the reports published in these newspapers. Four newspapers were selected: Sharq, Etemad, Keyhan and Resalat. The specified period of the study was a one-year period (1396-1397 /2017-2018). The published news items were compared with their English source texts and a list of selected and deselected themes was prepared. These themes were reduced to certain codes which specified the examined newspapers toward Saudi Arabia through their selections.
