Her fascination with Native cultures is heightened by each book, dance, painting, photo, and piece of hand-crafted jewelry that she encounters. Among her trips, she has visited villages in Ecuador, lands of the Cheyenne, Kootenai, Flathead, and Blackfeet Indians, traveled up Montana's Bitterroot Valley, and enjoyed a special presentation and meal at Head-Smashed-in-Buffalo Jump (a Siksika World Heritage Site in Alberta, Canada). She is a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College, where she studied Native American Literature with Dr. Chris LaLonde, later majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She currently enjoys gardening, fishing, yarn crafts, and traveling with her husband, Charlie.
