Starting from gold, other metals to the latest gutta percha, etc. various techniques with upcoming materials have allowed perfect root canal filling, with a hope to achieve total obturation. Traditionally gutta percha point combined with sealer has been the choice of obturation.With evolving trends in field of dentistry newer material and techniques are inpractise having its pro and cons, which ultimately defines the success of root canal treatment. An attempt is in progress to explore the recent advances in root canal obturation materials and techniques.
