This book reported the synthetic methods used for the preparation of novel heterocyclic compounds from the reaction of 3-oxo-arylhydrazonal derivatives with active methylene nitriles and some reagents carrying active amino groups in basic medium and in different acidic catalysis such as hydrochloric acid, citric acid and zeolite as a natural heterogeneous catalyst. the reaction of arylhyadrazonal derivatives with cyanoacetic acid hydrazide and different heteraromatic aldehydes and ketones are reported. Also, reaction of arylhydrazonal with ethylcyanodimer, the corresponding pyradizinone was isolated on refluxing ethanol zeolite mixture. However, pyrdazine imine was isolated on refluxing ethanolic piperidine. Reaction of aryl hydrazonals with semicarbazide, thiosemicarbazide and amino guanidine on refluxing ethanol in presence of catalytic amount of zeolite, the corresponding hydrazine carboxamide, hydrazine carbothioamide, hydrazine carboximidamide derivatives were obtained respectively. The chemistry of arylhydrazonal derivatives are reported. The biological activities of the prepared compounds were investigated.
