Airway management is one of the most important aspects of prehospital care. The primary objective in the prehospital setting is to ensure adequate oxygenation and ventilation of the patient until transfer to the referral facility. Rapid sequence intubation (RITS) is the most commonly used intubation method in emergency situations, as it is associated with greater first-pass success (i.e., successful placement of the tracheal tube on the first attempt) and a lower incidence of complications. The main objective of this technique is to reduce the critical time period between loss of protective airway reflexes and rapid inflation of the endotracheal tube cuff to minimize the possibility of aspiration of gastric contents. o. Given the difficulties encountered in a prehospital setting, identifying patients with difficult airway, in order to consider alternative management or optimize the clinical scenario, could reduce adverse events. The objective of this review is to evaluate the current evidence regarding SRI.
