Susan Pokorny was born in Lewes, East Sussex, England. She was raised with an array of pets and ponies, including dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs of all shapes and sizes. Susan joined the Sussex Police Force, stationed in Hastings, and met her husband, David - a California Highway Patrol Officer (CHP), as a pen pal from the United States. They married in Crowborough, Sussex in April 1984 and had a second wedding ceremony in the USA, in May 1984. They have three wonderful children and a great son-in-law. Susan and David rescue cats and breed Pembroke Welsh Corgis. All the characters in this book are real animals they have rescued and all their names are real. Susan currently lives in Palmdale, California, USA, with her husband and family.
