Autorenporträt
Axelle Rougeulle is a member of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), Orient & Mediterranee Section (Paris, France). She specialized in the history of trade in the Eastern Islamic world and the Indian Ocean in medieval times, focusing on port cities, land and sea routes, and interregional exchanges. She has worked in Iraq, Bahrain, and Yemen, where she studied the ancient ports of Hadramaut, Mahra, and Sharma. From 2008 to 2016, in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritasge and Culture (now Heritage and Tourism), she directed the research project at Qalhat, the results of which are presented here.
