German writer Roland Schimmelpfennig has worked as a journalist, translator and dramaturg. Push Up (translated by Maya Zade) was first produced at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs in February 2002. Other work for the theatre in English includes Arabian Nights (translated by David Tushingham) which performed at Soho Theatre, London in 2002, and The Woman Before (translated by David Tushingham), commissioned by the Royal Court Theatre in 2005 for a main-house production.
