Autorenporträt
I live in southern Arizona with my best friend and sweetheart Bill, where the night sky is dark, rarely cloudy, and stunningly starry. I never believed that we're alone in the universe, and as I look at the stars at night I always wonder which ones are suns to planets peopled with creatures not unlike us, creatures who love and laugh and cry and want to be happy. I've looked up and wondered, what might daily life on a nearby world be like? I wondered so much, a girl was born in my mind, a hyper-adventurous girl, bright and curious, destined to become a great person in the annals of her planet's history. Like many great people, she would come from humble origins, born with an extraordinary something that sets her apart from the rest and makes her life less than easy, normal, contented, or ever satisfied. Like many great people, she would know her share of suffering. Aside from accidental greatness, it is love and longing that make a great person great and keep them steady on their gnarly road of destiny. The unfolding life of Lin di Ana of the planet Luratia, a child destined for greatness, is my meditation on these questions: What makes a great person great? How is it that a broken life can mend and in so doing, become a new life, a better life - a better life, even, than the unbroken life would have been? How do we survive the pains and perils of childhood intact, without having lost or left behind our natural trust in goodness, our curiosity, our sense of wonder, our aliveness? How might planet Earth evolve in future decades? Where does happiness come from? Learn more at www.Luratia.com
