Dhaka is one of the organically developed cities in the world and urban planning did not receive any good response from public policy level. In Dhaka, both motorized and non-motorised transports ply on the same road, no well organised mass rapid transport system, very weak traffic management system, no parking policy, lack of co-ordination and co-operation among the different government and non government departments for ensuring an efficient public transport system. Traffic congestion has dominant characteristics and well known scenario in Dhaka. There are about 8 organizations which are directly involved for multi-modal public transport system for Dhaka city. This book illustratesthe legislative constraints and institutional issues of the multi-modal public transport system of Dhaka City.
