Handicrafts in Mexico represent an alternative source of employment and income for thousands of artisans in the country. Hence the need for handicraft activity to become an alternative capable of reducing poverty and achieving economic stabilization in rural and indigenous areas whose unemployment and underemployment rates are significant. The purpose of this essay is to design a public policy proposal for the regional development of handicrafts. Our proposal is based on the design of a public policy for regional development from the analysis and implementation of suggestions from the particular point of view, taking as a pillar that it should come mainly from the regional particularities, from the participation of local agents and of course taking advantage of the potentialities that a region has.
