This book deals with Shrimp aquaculture, presently approximately one million metric tons of shrimp produces annually. While some 20 species are cultured in various parts of the world, the majority of production is based on eight species. For the eastern hemisphere, the fast growing giant tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon is the most important, while in the western hemisphere, the white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei is the leading production species. The present investigation was designed to find out Length-Weight relationship and condition factor in-situ for the penaeid prawn, a potential candidate species of Aquaculture of Andhra Pradesh. No research has yet been done on the long-term growth performance of L. vannamei in freshwater in the Tropical regions especially in the Coast of Andhra Pradesh. This study aims to compare the length-weight relationship and condition state in growth stage penaeid prawn cultured in freshwater. The results provide practical data on growth, survival and organism condition for these culture conditions and provide valuable information for the Fishery Biologists and Aquaculture specialists trying to develop the Aquaculture practices of L. vannamei.
