ADAM Mahamat a fait ses études universitaires aux universités de Ngaoundéré, Douala et Maroua. Il est actuellement titulaire d'un doctorat ph/D en droit public. Il a fait des questions du droit minier et de l'environnement comme sa principale préoccupation compte tenu du fait que le Cameroun mise désormais sur les ressources minières.
