PJ McDermott grew up in Scotland. As a schoolboy, he read Sci Fi morning and night reveling in the genius of Asimov, Herbert, Niven, Moorcock, Le Guin and H.G. Wells. These days he enjoys the fantasy novels of Robin Hobb, George Martin and the modern SF writers, Vaughn Heppner and Alex Weir. In addition to the Prosperine Trilogy, PJ has published the prelude, Dust and Ashes, which deals with the apocalyptic events 84 years before the first book in the series. It is available as an e-book at online retailers. Writing as Jacob Carlisle, PJ published the semi-biographical novel, Small Fish Big Fish, and several short stories - all of which have been re-issued under the author name PJ McDermott. PJ lives in Australia with his wife, Sue, two daughters and grandchildren, Mia and Ryder Patrick.
