Health service waste (RSS) is a punctual issue, arousing interest due to the damage it can cause to public health and the environment. This report presents the diagnosis of the handling of RSS through the analysis and efficiency of the Health Services Waste Management Plan - (PGRSS) of the Hospital de Clínicas of the Federal University of Uberlândia - (HCU), points out the result of the investigation on the reasons that have generated possible problems in relation to the handling of RSS, and displays the proposals for application of the product in the institution, in addition to bringing data about the product. In Brazil, between the years 2009 to 2013, the available databases recorded the production of 183.5 thousand (t) / day of RSS (ANVISA 2010). In Uberlândia, 1.69t / day of RSS is produced at HCU. The objective of this work is to publish guidelines foreseen in the plan, in order to guide itself on the correct disposal of each waste. The research has an applied purpose, an exploratory and descriptive objective, a documentary procedure, of a qualitative and quantitative nature, and on-site observation.
