Produktbeschreibung
Professional Issues for Today's Nurses provides readers with a foundational and complete introduction to the nursing profession. Leveraging Benner's novice-to-expert model as a framework, the textbook well prepares students for more advanced courses in the curriculum, such as medical-surgical nursing; gerontology; mental health nursing; and maternal, infant, and pediatric nursing, among others. The book is organized into four parts, which address the development of nursing as a profession, transitioning into the professional nurse role, nursing leadership and management, and current issues in health care delivery. Dedicated chapters explore theories of nursing practice, the licensure process, legal and ethical issues in health care, cultural awareness, communication in nursing, conflict management, health care delivery systems, disaster preparedness, and more. Critical topics of coverage include the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine, telehealth, increases in patients requiring geriatric care, emerging roles for nurses, the importance of diversity and inclusion in practice, and increases in care being provided in community and outpatient settings. Each chapter features objectives, key terms, informational tables, critical thinking questions, scenarios, and practice test questions. Professional Issues for Today's Nurses is a highly versatile and informative resource that is well suited to all prelicensure nursing programs.
