The third chapter traces back the presence of the Gypsy blacksmith in Bulgarian folklore (in its oral genres as proverbs, legends, anecdotes and tales; in the kukeri performances; in the living fire ritual; in the folk character of the cult of Saint Athanasius). This book could be useful toeverybody interested in the inter-ethnic relations in the Balkans and particularly to those who specialise on the Gypsy (Roma) life there.
Autorenporträt
Svetlina Denova was born in 1976 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. It is her MA thesis in ethnology, defended in 1999 at the University of Plovdiv. In 2005, she obtained doctoral degree in Folklore Studies at the Institute of Folklore, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Since 2010 she lives in Canada and works in the field of anthropology of music.
