The auditing of business processes is a subject of growing relevance in the literature. However, traditional and manual techniques prove to be unsatisfactory or insufficient, since they are costly, can be biased and error-prone, and involve a large amount of temporal, human and material resources. In this sense, this study demonstrates how the process mining technique can be used, automatically, in the audit of government processes, from an information system and a mining tool called ProM. Based on compliance verification techniques, a comparison was made between the actual processes and their respective official models of a government institution. The results obtained show some differences between them, and indicate that the technique can be used as an auxiliary means in the auditing of business processes.
