Lawrence Epstein, Ph.D. (1977) in Anthropology, University of Washington, is Assistant Professor of Anthropology, University of Washington. His primary research interests are in popular religion, pilgrimage practices, the social construction of space and in Khams pa history, especially during the late Qing and Republican eras.
