Hence, prioritization in medicine has become an increasingly important issue for assuring stability of health systems and improving the capability of health care. Pichlmayr in der Klinik für Abdominal- und Transplantationschirurgie Hannover, Seit 2000 ärztlicher Direktor der Sonderkrankenanstalt für transplantierte Kinder und Jugendliche "Ederhof". Seit 2001 Geschäftsführender Direktor des Instituts für Medizinmanagement und Gesundheitswissenschaften sowie der Forschungsstelle für Gesundheitsökonomie und Sozialrecht der Universität Bayreuth, Leiter des Transplantationszentrums im Klinikum Augsburg, Stellv. Vorsitzender des Nationalen Ethikrates, Präsident des Deutschen Evangelischen Kirchentages 2003 und Mitglied der ("Rürup-")Kommission für die Nachhaltigkeit in der Finanzierung der Sozialen Sicherungssysteme.
