Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2020 in the subject Communications - Print Media, Press, grade: A, , course: Mass Communication, language: English, abstract: The study was aimed at identifying the prominence attached to sexual harassment stories by the newspaper, to determine the frequency of coverage of sexual harassment issues in Nigeria by newspapers and to determine how the newspapers portray and present sexual harassment issues. Agenda-Setting Theory developed by Max McCombs and Donald Shaw in 1968 and Social Responsibility Theory propounded by Siebert, Peterson in 1956. Using content analysis, 72 editions of newspaper. The guardian, The sun and Thisday Newspaper were analyzed. Studies have emerged to address the social deviances of sexual harassment in work settings, and sex for employment in Nigeria. Also, there is a fall short of knowledge concerning female students experiencing sexual harassment and how they manage to report these sexual harassment issues which includes the sex for grade, rape etc, that have been a trend today in Nigerian universities. Moreover, it is not certain from the studies if female students report cases of sexual harassment to the school management. In addition, there have been failure by the school management to indicate the number of staff caught for sexual harassment and disciplinary actions taken against them to the press. Therefore, the researcher intends to transcend the limit of the above study by filling these gaps in knowledge. This study therefore examined the Press coverage of Sexual harassment in Nigeria: A content analysis of the guardian, the sun and this day Newspaper.
