However, tennis started to become popular among Brazilians after Gustavo Kuerten won the Roland Garros title in 1997 according to Teles (2000) and Cafisso and Teixeira (2010).However, although this sport has gained more prominence in recent years, it still cannot be considered a popular sport, and is considered by many as an elitist sport (MULLER; RODRIGUES, 2012; CORTELA et al., 2020), which, most of the time, is practiced in closed clubs and gyms.
