This book is an attempt to furnish student and teachers the information at one place in consolidated and precise manner, covering tools and techniques involved, figure, illustration and examples along with research highlight with updated latest references, in order to elucidate topics making the subject more interesting and knowledge-rich.Environmental stress severely restricts the distribution and productivity of plants. Heavy metal is one of the major abiotic factors which can limit crop productivity, especially in arid and semi arid region. Land and water resources are worst affected and under continuous stress, both biotic and abiotic, due to anthropogenic interventions. This book will fulfil the need for a one-volume scientific discussion on heavy metal stress and putrescine. Cadmium (Cd) is of particular concern to human health as it can be readily absorbed by roots and be concentrated by many cereals, potatoes, vegetables and fruits. Elevated levels of Cd generally inhibitseed germination, cell growth as well as whole plant growth, nutrient uptake, distribution and photosynthesis. The purpose of present study was to evaluate the performance of medicinally important Stevia.
