Dereje Terefe Gemechu ist Assistenzprofessor an der Ethiopian Civil Service University in Addis Abeba, Äthiopien. Derzeit ist er Leiter des Zentrums für Studien zur öffentlichen Ordnung. Er verfügt über langjährige Berufserfahrung im Bildungssektor des Landes und war in verschiedenen Funktionen tätig. Er schloss sein Promotionsstudium an der Universität Jyvaskyla, Finnland, im Jahr 2010 ab.
