Autorenporträt
George retired in 1998 after a 32-year career in the advertising agency business. For 25 of those years, he was president and chief operating officer of EvansGroup/Dallas, one of the most creative agencies in the Southwest. He wrote his first book, Growing Up Simple, in 2002. A non-fiction novel, it instantly won the Violet Crown award from Barnes & Noble and the Writer's League of Texas as the best nonfiction book by a Texas author of 2003; the IPPY book Award from the Independent Publishers' Association as the funniest book released in 2003 in North America; and a coveted Silver Spur from the Texas Public Relations Association. Seven independent critics compared it favorably to Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer.
