JOHN A. HARDON, S.J., has been a member of the Society of Jesus for forty-nine years. Father Hardon holds a Master's Degree in Philosophy from Loyola University and a Doctorate in Theology from the Gregorian University in Rome. He has taught at the Jesuit School of Theology at Loyola University in Chicago and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Catholic Doctrine programs. A prolific writer, whose works have appeared in leading religious and educational periodicals as well as various collections, he has authored many books, including: The Catholic Catechism, Religions of the World, Protestant Churches of America, Christianity in the Twentieth Century, Theology of Prayer, and Spiritual Life in the Modern World. In addition, he is actively involved with a number of organizations, e.g., Institute on Religious Life, Apostolate for Family Consecration and The Catholic Home Study Institute. Presently, Father Hardon divides his time between New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., writing and teaching Theology.
