This book provides information for isolation of chromium tolerant bacteria and their potential role for growth promotion of wheat in chromium contaminated soil. Plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) were isolated from soil and screened for chromium tolerance potential. Chromium tolerant PGPB isolates were further evaluated for their ability to reduce Cr(VI) to Cr(III). Finally, efficient PGPB were used to alleviate chromium stress on wheat in a pot experiment. Muhammad Yahya Khan is working as a Lecturer at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Sub-Campus Burewala-Vehari, Pakistan. He is interested in plant-microbe interactions and soil microbiological investigations for sustainability of agriculture and environment.
