Bus Route rationalization is a systematic study to rationalizing the existing bus route on certain criteria like ¿ supply and demand, frequency, boarding and alighting, load factor in bus and operations in and around the study area. This study aims to identify the existing bus routes and rationalize them so as to economize the making optimum use of resources with better efficiency. The objective of this study is to rationalize the routes with a view considering movement patterns of the passengers in the city, demand levels, service level benchmarks, need for various types of services, multimodal integration, overlap services, efficiency of existing operations to provide better services to the passengers. Two major routes were selected in Gurgaon city based on their demand and route length, its coverage to major residential and commercial centers at peak hours. The present study is based on the data collected from Primary and secondary survey such as Boarding and Alighting, passengers survey was conducted for the two routes in the city. These routes were analyzed later to reviewing the existing public transport.
