Bruce has taught History in Southern Ontario, England, Western Australia and Scotland. He is a member of the fellowship which meets in Tayport Gospel Hall, Fife, Scotland. Bruce has also written other missionary books, Mary Slessor: a life on the Altar for God, (Christian Focus Publications: 2014); McCheyne's Dundee (Reformation Heritage Books, 2018).
