Punica granatum Linn. (Pomegranate) is a plant belongs to Punicaceae family locally called as Anar, a fruit of great antiquity.This plant species have been cultivated in the Middle-East for more than 5,000 years ago and it is found in Iran, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, Srilanka, North Africa, California and Arizona. Pomegranate peels are used as a popular remedy throughout the world and exploited in traditional medicine because of their strong mordancy properties. Bark, leaves, immature fruits and fruit rind of different parts of pomegranate have valuable therapeutic potential. Several studies have focused on prevention and treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. This book will focus on the phytochemical constituents, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of Punica granatum peel extracts.
