Seeds of E. jambolana are known to possess anti-diabetic activity as well as other pharmacological activities. Various phytoconstituents are also reported to be present in the seeds. But there is no report on any correlation between anti-diabetic activity & the phytoconstituents present in it. Hence the present study is designed to isolate and characterize phytoconstituents from ethanolic and aqueous extracts of seeds of Eugenia jambolana. The anti-diabetic constituent has also been identified.
