For the periodontium to remain healthy, restorations must be critically managed in several areas so that they are in harmony with their surrounding periodontal tissues. A healthy coexistence between dental restorations and their surrounding structures should be the goal of the conscientious dentist and the expectation of the informed patient. Clinicians need to combine periodontal and restorative procedures in co-ordinated manner to optimize the best clinical outcome.
