Gerald Harris served as pastor for more than forty years before becoming editor of The Christian Index (the Georgia Baptist state publication) from 2003 until 2019. Dr. Harris is author of five books. He has served as president of the Georgia Baptist Convention; was on the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee; served the trustee board of the SBC Sunday School Board (now Lifeway Christian Resources); and chaired the Resolutions Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention. Dr. Harris actively fulfills a preaching and teaching ministry called Love Lifted Me Higher (www.loveliftedmehigher.org).
