Omolade Okwa ist Professorin für Zoologie an der Lagos State University, Nigeria. Sie forscht seit über 25 Jahren auf dem Gebiet der Parasitologie und absolvierte eine Postdoc-Ausbildung an der Universität Keele, Großbritannien. Sie hat an der Universität von Ibadan, Nigeria, in Parasitologie promoviert. Sie ist Expertin für die Dynamik der Malariaübertragung und vernachlässigte tropische Krankheiten.
